Our  Mission

The Illinois Farmers Union is committed to provide effective grassroots leadership to build a sustainable economic system in which family farms and rural communities thrive and prosper. Guided by its cooperative, legislative and educational ideals, the Farmers Union will continue to work for the advancement of the quality of life for people everywhere. We embrace this mission statement of the National Farmers Union. The Farmers Union is an organization composed of farm families who have joined together to help build a better world, a better nation and a better farm life. We affirm our conviction under God and upon the truth and righteousness of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution with its Bill of Rights. We are, therefore, dedicated to the preservation and improvement of our Republic, which is a democracy, that provides liberty and justice for all. We shall continue to oppose communism, fascism and all other elements trying to establish totalitarian forms of government in this country or anywhere else in the world.

We see a need for improved representation before the General Assembly and the Congress. We are dedicated to the building of a Farmers Union organization to fill this need. We shall strive to build the Illinois Farmers Union into an organization that is truly representative of the interests of farm families. We invite all farm-oriented people of Illinois to join with us in these efforts.

Whereas the Illinois Farmers Union is a family organization, we recognize the importance of women as valuable working partners in the family farm system. We encourage their active participation at every level of the Farmers Union.
